Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
— Credit Course

Learn about the exciting world of hospitality and how important this industry is to the success of the State of New Mexico and tourism as a whole.

With more than 200 different job opportunities, the $103.6 billion hospitality industry has a career to fit every interest. Jobs are available in restaurants, hotels, resorts, casinos and other areas. Types of positions range from entry-level to supervisory and managerial positions, including hotel, food and beverage, casino and resort operations.

In this course participants will gain an understanding of basic hotel management, administration, accounting, maintenance, sales and catering including an in-depth look at the most common entry-level hospitality positions:

Guest Services PBX Operator, Front Desk, Valet Attendants, Retail Cashier, Reservationist, Concierge, Bell Attendant

Housekeeping Guestroom Attendant, Laundry Attendant, Public Space Cleaner, Maintenance Employee

Food and Beverage Room Service Attendant, Restaurant Server, Kitchen Steward, Bus Person, Banquet Setup Employee, Banquet Server
